An overview of this policy.
In addition to our terms of service and cookie policy, this policy explains how we collect and process your information across all our websites, mobile applications, and other services. We will review this policy from time to time to ensure that it is up to date. If we make changes, we will publish the latest version here. When we make significant changes, we will inform you the next time you use our services, or through other communication channels including notifications from our apps or on our websites.
Learn more about this policy.
You will find that the term "personal data" is repeated frequently in this policy. Personal data refers to any information related to you as an individual that can identify your identity. For example, this includes information that may identify you, such as your name, contact details, travel itinerary, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, cookie strings, or device identifiers, as well as information that may not identify you but we store alongside these identifiers, such as how you use our services or the country you are in when you do so.
We can only talk about ourselves, so this policy does not address the collection or use of your information by any of the other online transportation companies (let's call them "transport service providers") that we showcase. This means that when making a reservation with a transportation service provider, your information will be processed by them in accordance with their privacy policy and terms and conditions.
Why do we use your personal data and how is it done?
When we need to do this to provide our services or to facilitate the execution of a contract that you have entered into - or are about to enter into - such as making a reservation through us or through one of the transportation service providers.
How we use personal data to fulfill contracts.
- Ensuring the accessibility of our services and their use by you on your specified device, for example, by changing the way information is displayed to you based on your device type;
- Generating results in response to your search requests, for example, providing you with a list of travel options that best meet your requirements.
When you choose one of the transportation service providers through which you wish to make a reservation, we take one of the following steps:
It will redirect you to its platform along with any necessary data to enable it to recognize you and the transfer option you selected on Ride Scanner, including data related to your browser or device and details of your transfer search.
To facilitate the completion of this booking through our services, this will involve us gathering all the necessary information to enable the booking process and transferring it to the relevant transportation service provider, including your contact details, and/or information identifying you, and payment details;
- Contacting you through messages, notifications, or alerts necessary to provide our requested services, such as booking confirmation emails or other essential messages like flight status alerts and notifications about changes or updates made to our services, this policy, our cookie policy, or our terms of service.
- Responding to the messages you send us, such as replies through the customer service help center or on social media.
- Displaying reviews, images, and any other content and media that you send to Ride Scanner or upload to Ride Scanner services (we will refer to this as "User Content"), and providing you with the tools necessary to manage and delete this content.
When you create an account with us, we take care of maintaining and managing this account, ensuring it is updated and easily accessible.
To improve our services or elevate them to the best level, as well as to protect our legitimate interests or enhance them. This includes very serious reasons such as fraud prevention and security, but also positive reasons like product improvement so that we can continue to develop Ride Scanner for users.
Our legitimate interests.
For security and fraud prevention purposes, for example, by storing a subset of your payment information, such as the last four digits of your credit card and your Internet Protocol address to record the location from which the payment may have originated, or to protect our services from misuse of our application programming interfaces or from self-operating bots. For these purposes, we may make automatic decisions about you that could lead us or the transportation service provider you are booking through to deny the purchase.
- Identifying and correcting errors related to our services or areas for improvement by using information such as browser type, operating system, locale and language settings, general site activity, along with any specific feedback and evaluative comments you may provide us from time to time.
- Providing customer service or assistance regarding any questions you may have or issues you may encounter while using our services. For example, although the final transport service provider is responsible to you for any issues you may encounter with one of the rides or other transport services you booked through Ride Scanner, if you or the transport service provider contact us regarding an issue with your booking, we will need to use some of your personal data in order to assist you.
Understanding and evaluating how, when, and why people use Ride Scanner for the purpose of delivering our services, assessing them, improving them, and advancing them to the highest level. For example:
Monitoring the number of users who are redirected to transportation service providers or who make bookings through them, along with the details of the relevant transportation options specified for commercial record-keeping and business flow analysis.
Analyzing what different groups of users may view or click on within our services at an overall level, in order to gain a better understanding of the most popular or useful features or functions compared to others.
Review and edit any content you upload to Ride Scanner services.
We measure the effectiveness of our messages by recording and analyzing whether the emails we sent you have been opened.
- Personalizing your experience with our services to ensure that your use of Ride Scanner is as helpful, effective, and convenient as possible. For example:
We will use cookies to remember your language and currency preferences, and we may personalize your experience by highlighting or recommending certain information or transportation options that we believe are suitable for you based on your search history on Ride Scanner and your use of our services.
If you have requested us to send you newsletters or other marketing messages, we may customize their timing or content to reflect what we believe will be most important to you.
We may use your location information to predict the places you are likely to want to leave from or return to.
And also to display advertisements relevant to you about our services or other services that we believe may interest you. For example, when we know that you recently searched for a trip to a specific location, we might show you a message asking if you would like to search for a hotel or a car at the same location.
Personalizing your experience involves us creating a profile and a timeline of your activity on our services.
We may use your data to train our machine learning algorithms to help us personalize services. We will not use your specific identity information directly, such as your contact details or payment information, for these purposes.
- Communicating strategic business decisions by creating aggregated datasets from anonymous data that allow us to gain useful insights into patterns or prevailing trends in the transportation industry. For example, we can use search data to monitor demand for destinations and ensure the availability of prices and transportation options that we offer to our users through our services. This information is also useful for transportation service providers as it enables them to identify new routes or locations with high demand and ensure they offer competitive prices.
· Contacting you to invite you to participate in real market research.
When we process your personal data based on legitimate interest, we will do so only when the processing is relevant, adequate, and limited to what is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. Of course, we will always ensure that our legitimate interests do not harm your rights and personal freedoms.
Upon receiving your approval.
We will obtain your consent for purposes similar to the following:
- Sending emails related to the services you requested;
- Sending direct marketing messages via email or push notifications or other means when you grant us your consent to do so;
· Storing certain cookies on your device, when your consent is required;
- And recording and evaluating the feedback you provide us when you agree to participate in the analog usability test.
When we process your personal data based solely on your consent, you can withdraw this consent at any time either by using the function provided within the appropriate product feature or by contacting us.
When it is necessary to exercise our legal rights or obligations or to comply with them.
We may need to retain your information and use it in connection with legal claims, or for compliance, auditing, and regulatory purposes. For example, we may retain information that is required by law, or if we are compelled to do so by a court order or regulatory body. Additionally, when you exercise any applicable legal rights related to accessing, modifying, or deleting your personal data, we may ask you for identification documents to verify your identity.

Advertisements you may see while using Ride Scanner.
You will often see advertisements while using our services. These advertisements will be presented either directly by us or through external advertising solution providers we work with (let's call them "external advertising solution providers").
The majority of these ads will be personalized to make them relevant to you and will fall under two different categories. First, the advertisements tailored for you based on the information collected from you by us or through external advertising solution providers while using our services, such as your general location (by city or country) and the searches you conducted or your booking history on Ride Scanner ("information related to Ride Scanner"). So, for example, if you have booked a trip to a specific area, you will see advertisements for services there. The information related to Ride Scanner will never include your name, contact details, or any other information that could identify you offline. Secondly, the advertisements tailored for you based on information that we have no clarity or control over, which is instead collected from you by external solution providers when you use websites or platforms other than Ride Scanner's websites and platforms ("non-Ride Scanner platforms"). We collectively refer to these advertisements as "interest-based ads."
The necessary information to deliver these interest-based advertisements will be stored by external advertising solution providers along with your IP address and/or cookie identifier, so that advertisements can be presented to you without external advertising solution providers needing to retain any information that could identify you offline, such as your name or address.
When you opt into personalized advertising, we may also use the information we collect through cookies and similar technologies to show you customized ads, marketing messages, and promotional offers on Ride Scanner, or to send you messages wherever you have opted to receive them. For example, when you book a trip using Ride Scanner or are redirected from Ride Scanner to make a reservation on one of our partner sites, we may use the information we collect through cookies and similar technologies to personalize the ads we display to you or to send you tailored marketing messages related to your booking based on information such as your destination, travel time, the services you selected, or the transportation provider you are using. We may also use this information to provide you with relevant details about your destination, such as "local guides" or updated weather information, or to request reviews and recommendations about the places you have visited.
Advertisements you may see while on platforms not affiliated with Ride Scanner.
You may also see advertisements for our services once you leave Ride Scanner and use other websites besides Ride Scanner. For example, this may occur if one of the platforms not affiliated with Ride Scanner, which you are using, provides advertising space for sale that is purchased by Ride Scanner or one of the external advertising solution providers we work with. Similar to the advertisements you see while using Ride Scanner, these ads may be personalized and presented to you based on the information that external advertising solution providers have collected about you, either while you are using our services or while you are using other platforms not affiliated with Ride Scanner.
How can I control the ads I see?
You can find information on how to set your advertising preferences in a way that suits you in our cookie policy.
Do we use cookies or similar technologies?
We use cookies and similar technologies to help deliver, improve, customize, and analyze our services, as well as for advertising purposes.
Learn more about cookies and similar technologies.
We use a combination of cookies and other technologies such as pixels/embedded programs for web tracking and tracking codes (explained below) to collect information for use in accordance with the purposes outlined in this policy.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small data file that is saved on your computer or device. Cookies may be set on our website by us, or by third parties we work with, or independent third parties (such as advertisers).
What are the tracking programs for web tracking and pixels?
Tracking programs via the web or pixels are small, transparent image files embedded within a webpage or email. We use it to understand how you interact with our services, or if you were redirected to the website or app of a transportation service provider. We may use the pixel to confirm whether you have completed the booking through it and what you have booked. We also use pixels to collect information such as whether you have opened one of the emails, so that we can improve the messages directed to you.
What are tracking codes?
Tracking codes are parts of the code placed on the page to measure elements such as visits and interactions. We use tracking codes to learn more about how you interact with our services and the ads you see, and generally, how you use everything we offer.
Please refer to our cookie policy for more information and details regarding the types of cookies and similar technologies we use.
